Health & Safety

Gariff have always been committed to ensuring our projects are undertaken with safety being paramount in all operations. Our exemplary safety record is testament to this commitment.

In 2002 we were awarded a 5 Star Safety Award by the British Safety Council.

We have a qualified in-house Safety Advisor and take a proactive approach to the implementation of our Health & Safety systems, including the provision of health surveillance and monitoring.

All our operatives, site and senior management undertake regular health & safety training and to date almost all of our staff now hold CSCS cards.

Investment in new health & safety auditing equipment and software ensures we are able to carefully monitor, analyse and assess overall performance and quickly identify any areas where improvements can be made.

Our Safety systems ensure that we are equipped to carry out full Principal Contractor roles and can act as Planning Supervisor where requested by our clients.

Gariff are registered members of the British Safety Council.

What is Health Surveillance?
Health surveillance is about systematically watching out for early signs of work-related ill health in employees exposed to certain health risks. It means putting in place certain procedures to achieve this. These procedures include:

simple methods, such as looking for skin damage on hands from using certain chemicals;
technical checks on employees, such as hearing tests;
more involved medical examinations.
